Luke 23:42, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
This saying is a great thing to make your own on your death bed, whether young or old. It is common for the dying Christian to doubt his or her salvation. In the moment of death, we often reflect on our past sins—our mistakes, failures, and evil deeds. Why not? The Devil wants us to reflect on nothing else at the moment of our death.
Yet if you’re Christian, your sins are no more! This does not suddenly change on your death bed. God does not suddenly change His mind. He does not say upon your death bed, “Ope! I know I said I forgive your sins and justified you in My Son, but I change My mind.” No, God’s verdict remains the same: as you stand at death’s door, you still remain justified in Christ. God made a promise to you; He does not change His mind. In death, He remembers His promise to you, and He follows through.
