Princes and Princesses

Luke 12:32, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

Christ the Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Since we are adopted as God’s children and receive the inheritance of eternal life, that is, God’s kingdom (Ephesians 1:3-14), we, too, become princes and princesses, for God’s kingdom will be ours. We will not rule over God, yet we shall also reign (2 Timothy 2:12; Revelation 20:4).

Christ deserves the kingdom based on His Godhood and His perfect righteousness. We are unworthy of the kingdom, yet God crowns us with worthiness for the sake of Christ, adopting us as His sons and daughters, crowning us as princes and princesses of His kingdom.

This is our Father’s “good pleasure,” Christ says—εὐδοκέω (eudokeō), His resolve; He takes delight in giving us His kingdom. He promises us the kingdom none other than the fact that it pleases Him—it brings Him joy. What a gracious God we have!
