No. 2348, The Day of Help (Poetry)

A poem on Psalm 20.

May God defend you in the fight
and shield you with His holy might.
From Zion’s hill, may Help appear
to Calm your heart, to Still your fear.

May all your offerings find His Grace,
and every prayer reveal His face.
May He fulfill your heart’s desire
and set your soul with Hope afire.

With Banners raised, we’ll shout for Joy,
as Victory’s song our tongues employ.
The Lord has heard; His hand will save;
His strength protects; His arm is brave.

Some trust in chariots, others in steeds,
but we in Godโ€”our Help in need.
Their strength will fail, their plans will fall,
but we shall rise and stand through all.

O Lord, give Victory to the king,
and hear the prayers Your people bring.
In every trial, near or far,
be evermore our guiding star.
