Why has Christ redeemed you—purchased and won you from sin, death, and the devil? “…that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness…” (SC, The Second Article: Redemption; emphasis mine).
It is as God promised since antiquity, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name. You are Mine” (Isaiah 43:1). As much as I read and study the Scriptures, I can never fathom the graciousness of those words, “You are Mine.”
Consider that!
As a baptised child of God, redeemed in the death and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:3-5), you belong to Him! From the moment those waters with the Word of God in, with, and under them, God has said to you, “You are Mine!” Sin, death, and the devil no longer have ownership of you; rather, God does by His grace (Romans 6:6-14)! Who can fathom these depths of God’s steadfast love? Therefore, let us evermore serve Him and praise Him in the eternal righteousness, innocence, and blessedness He has given us!
