Daily Devotion: God’s Judgement against False Shepherds

Jeremiah 23:31-32, “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” declares Yahweh. Therefore, thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for my people: “You have scattered My flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for your evil deeds, declares Yahweh.”

If false teachers and false prophets today think they will escape God’s wrath, they are poorly mistaken. Of course, they do not think they are false shepherds, for they believe the heresies that fly out of their venomous tongues. Heretics—i.e. false shepherds—never consider themselves heretics. They are drastically harder to convert than an atheist, for all heretics truly believe they are preaching the Gospel, but in truth they are preaching the excrement of the Devil.

Such false shepherds include Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Joshua Feuerstein, TD Jakes, Paul Washer, and many others. Unless they repent and preach the pure Gospel, they will suffer God’s wrath, as well as the many sheep whom they deceive with their eloquent falsities. These are our enemies, for they are enemies of the Gospel, yet we should also love them by praying for their souls, especially so that if they should finally preach the pure Gospel, the many sheep they’ve deceived into condemnation will also find their way to the Light.
