2 John 9, Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
The teaching of Christ covers a multitude of things. Does Christ condone the murdering of infants, whether in the womb or after a botched abortion? Absolutely not. Therefore, whoever contends for abortion does not have Christ or God the Father, for murder is against the will of God, for God treasures such tiny humans in the womb (Psalm 139:13-16; 127:3; 22:10; Job 31:15). Any who do not confess Christ to be the Son of God does not have God the Father (John 5:23; 14:6). I could make the list longer, but hopefully the point is clear by now.
Why is this important? Why must we abide in the teaching of Christ? Well, what else does it mean to confess Christ as Lord? What is a lord? Someone who has authority over you, to whom you submit. If you confess Christ to be your Lord yet do not abide in His teachings, is He truly your Lord? That is, if you do not submit to Christ’s authority as your Lord, is Christ truly yours? Of course not. If you do not obey the Lord of all, then you obey another lord. If Christ is not your Lord, you are under a yoke of slavery. Pray, therefore, that the Holy Spirit reform your mind to the teachings of Christ our Lord.
