1 John 2:2, [Christ] is the propitiation for our sins, and not for our sonly but also for the sins of the whole world.
Therefore, do not listen to the rationalistic Calvinist who says Christ only died for the elect. Even if you do not believe, Christ died for you. This atonement—this fact—only becomes personal when you believe this is true. This unbiblical, Calvinist doctrine does not comfort the Christian conscience; it only produces doubt so that the Christian questions his salvation, “Am I truly among the elect? I could just be tricking myself.” If you believe in Christ, yes! You are truly among the elect! Your faith is all the assurance you need! On the cross, Jesus Christ satisfied the wrath of God for you. If you believe this, you are surely among the elect.
