Walking with Haste

Luke 2:16, And [the shepherds] went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.

As I look out my window and see people jogging, walking their dogs, or walking with their lover, I often wonder, “Do they know Jesus?” Do they know this gracious God who came as a lowly baby in a manger? Not: do they know about Him, but: do they know Him? It brings me a great sadness when people don’t know Him, especially when they don’t want to know Him.

You will seldom find someone on their hurried journey to nowhere who is willing to stop and listen to you talk about Jesus. I have led more to Christ in my simple living as a Christian than I have in street evangelism. Let others journey to nowhere with haste, but also walk alongside them on their path with haste. You are journeying toward Christ. Perhaps they may find themselves walking with haste to the same place: with our God who came as a baby wrapped in a manger.
