I am too impotent to do this on my own.
No amount of power I can possess
is capable of setting me free from sin.
I therefore have need for a Saviour.
My redemption has been paid off.
At no merit of my own,
Christ paid the ransom for my sins.
My gratitude is ineffable.
Too often does my sin weigh upon my shoulders,
so heavy that I often despair of life.
But I look upon the cross whence Christ died
and there I see my sins nailed to it.
At Christ’s resurrection, victory has been won,
and in Him through my baptism
I shall rise after this earthly death,
to be with my Lord forever.
Thanks be to God that Christ saves me,
for I have no power of my own to do so.
Without Christ, I am hopeless and damned;
but with Him, I have an eternal hope for salvation.
