1 Peter 5:8, Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the Devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
In some ways, the works of the Devil are obvious, such as ISIS, the Westboro Baptist Church, militaristic atheists, and others. Yet all of those sad souls are too blind to see his work. Most of the time, however, the Devil is subtle and insidious. He sneaks in and teaches doctrines that are antichrist or devoid of Christ altogether, such as the prosperity gospel, legalism, Christians who approve of homosexuality and other sexual immoralities, and so on. The Devil is a trickster; he is the master of lies, murder, and deceit. Therefore, we must be constantly alert! We must maintain our situational awareness and keep watch for his lies, armed with the Word of God. He is the father of the bastardised offspring of Christianity, through which he deceives many. We must remain alert lest we, too, become deceived, and we must also remain vigilant as we renounce all ungodliness (Titus 2:11-12).
