Halo: Silentium by Greg Bear - In Cryptum, we read from the Forerunner Bornstellar’s perspective. In Primordium, we read from the human Chakas’ perspective. Now here, Bear changes it up a bit as we read about the close to the Forerunner saga through “a translation of thirty-nine strings of Forerunner data,” which journeys us through the experiences of multiple characters—some new, some familiar. We finally find out who the Precursors are and the origin of the parasitic lifeforms called the Flood.

Can’t wait to start this “Hyperion Cantos” series after I finish my third read of Halo: Silentium! I came across the third book at a book sale in Midland, and came to discover that it’s part of a 4-book series. It seems like a really good mix of genres: fantasy and sci-fi, my two favourite genres! Halo: Primordium by Greg Bear review #2 - Whereas in the first book we read from the perspective of the Forerunner, Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting, here we journey along with his human companion, Chakas, separated from his friend Riser and Bornstellar as he’s stranded on one of the Halo rings at the start of the Forerunner civil war. He meets other humans on the Halo ring, doing all they can to avoid being taken to the enigmatic Palace of Pain where some humans have been taken by an antiquated foe and never returned.
