The Lutheran Column Is Migrating to Substack!

After much thought, I’m migrating The Lutheran Column to a new home on Substack called Credo & Quill. You can click on the hyperlink just before this or type the web address into your browser of choice: revbeckett.substack.com. This move allows me to bring everything together in one place—confessional Lutheran theology, long-form essays, sermons, and sustained literary work—while also creating space for writing that unfolds slowly and carefully. This here is my first public post.

Credo & Quill will include free public posts that anyone can read, as well as subscriber-only posts for works in progress, such as book chapters, as well as extended essays and certain poems. Nothing flashy—just serious theology and serious writing, shared faithfully and deliberately. It’ll be the same content you’ve been getting here. I’m doing this mainly for financial reasons. I’m not hurting financially, but I’ve since given up on the traditional publishing route and the expensive self-publishing route, so I’ve decided to use Substack instead where the paid subscriptions will simply aid in my family’s livelihood. I have some books I’ve been writing, short stories, and other works only paid subscribers will see, either at the price of $5 a month or $40 once a year.

If my writing has been meaningful to you, I would be grateful if you would consider subscribing—whether on the free or paid tier—and sharing Credo & Quill with others who might benefit from it. Your readership and support help make this kind of writing possible, and if you choose to pay for a subscription, again, it will support my livelihood as well.

Thanks in advance!
Pastor Beckett
