Poetry: No. 2441, Stewards of the Sacraments

A poem on 1 Corinthians 4:1-5.

Let none regard Pastors in dismay
but as Christ’s servants on His Way,
and stewards of His Sacraments deep, —
the Mysteries we vow to keep.

Above all, what is Required
is Faithfulness unexpired.
I care not how the World sees me,
for human judgement is Vanity.

The court of men is Weak and small
compared to the Judge of all.
He sees what’s Hidden and untold
and brings to light all Sins of old.

God is my Judge, His verdict sure:
in Chris Jesus I am Secure.
Therefore, judge Naught until Christ comes
to give us Praise from God’s own tongue.
