No. 2425, The Light has Dawned (Poetry)

A poem on Isaiah 9:2-7.

The people walked in Shadowed lands
but saw a Light by Heaven’s hands:
a Dawning Hope, a Brightened Way,
dispelling Night with promised Day.

You’ve multiplied their Joy and Peace;
their Burdens lifted, Strife shall cease.
Like Harvest time, all men shall sing
while they divide the spoils You bring.

The Yoke is snapped, the Rod is gone;
Oppression’s chains are all withdrawn.
The boots of war and blood-stained gear
shall burn in fireโ€”disappear.

For unto us a Child is born
to shatter Dark and bring the Morn.
The Government upon Him lies, โ€”
a mighty King both Just and Wise.

His Name shall be forever praised:
Wonderful, Counselor raised,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,
Mighty God whose reign shan’t cease.

His Kingdom growsโ€”His Reign shall stand, โ€”
with Justice firm in every land.
From David’s Throne, His Rule is known,
established firm by God alone.

The Zeal of God will bring it near, โ€”
a Reign of Love, devoid of fear.
For Light has dawnedโ€”the Truth is clear.
The Savior comes; His time is here.
