No. 2423, Abide in God (Poetry)

A poem on 1 John 4:7-16.

Belovรจd, let us love, for Love is from God;
it springs from His heart to the paths we’ve trod.
The one who loves knows the Father above,
for God’s very nature is Infinite Love.

In this, His great Love was shown to the Earth:
through sending His Son to grant us New Birth.
Not that we loved, but He loved us First,
quenching our souls where Love’s absence had thirst.

Since God so loved us, then we ought to show
a Love for each other that blooms and grows.
For no one has seen God face to face,
yet Love makes His Presence our dwelling place.

In us His Love is made Perfectโ€”Complete, โ€”
when hearts in Lovingkindness meet.
By this, we know we Abide in His Care:
His Spirit within us from Baptism’s share.

The Father has sent His Son to the World
to Save us from Death’s eternal whirl.
Those who Confess that Jesus is Lord
will live in His Love, forever Restored.

So let us Remain in the Love He has given,
which from Faith is always driven.
For God is Love, and all who Abide
shall dwell in His Presence, forever beside.
