A poem on Isaiah 7:10-17.

Again, the Lord spoke clear and plain
to Ahaz trembling in his reign:
“Ask for a Sign, both deep and high, โ
in earth below or in the sky.”
But Ahaz said, “I will not test,
nor tempt the Lord to prove what’s best.”
Then Isaiah increased his voice,
“Then hear, house of David, God’s choice:
“You weary God with hearts so dim,
but He will act despite your whim.
Behold, a Virgin shall Conceive
and bear a Son on the Eve.
“His name shall be Immanuel, โ
‘God with us’ where’er you dwell.
Before the Child knows wrong from right,
the land you dread will lose its fight.
“Trials will come since Ephraim’s demise
through Judah’s plains and darkened skies.”
For Judah must suffer her penalty
before the Child redeems her apostasy.
