No. 2400, I Thirst for God (Poetry)

A poem on Psalm 63.

O God, my God, I seek Thy Face.
My Soul is dry in this parched place.
As in a desert, void of rain,
I thirst for Thee through all my Pain.

Within Thy House, I’ve seen Thy Might, โ€”
Thy Power strong, Thy Glory bright.
Thy Lovingkindness is life to me;
therefore, my lips shall worship Thee.

I’ll bless Thy Name with lifted hands,
my heart rejoicing where it stands.
As with a Feast, my Soul is filled, โ€”
Thy Presence sweet, my spirit stilled.

Upon my bed, I think of Thee;
through night’s long watch, Thou art with me.
For under Thy Wings, safe I stay;
Thy right hand holds me night and day.

But those who seek my life shall fall, โ€”
into the earth shall their corpses crawl.
The King shall praise, and Righteous sing,
while Liars meet their Reckoning.

O God, my God, my heart is clear;
Thy name I’ll glory every year.
My Thirst, now quenched, finds life anew;
forever, Lord, Thy love is true.
