No. 2377, The Song of the King (Poetry)

A poem on Psalm 45.

My heart is stirred—my tongue will Sing
a noble song for Heaven’s King.
Your Beauty shines a Light so fair;
Grace flows like oil; no match is there.

Gird on Your Sword, O Mighty One;
ride forth in Truth till Justice is done.
Your arrow strike—Your foes take flight;
Your Throne endures in Endless Light.

Your Scepter rules with Righteousness, —
Your love of Truth; You hate Wickedness.
God’s oil of Joy has crowned Your brow;
above all kings, You reign here Now.

Your robes are rich with Myrrh and Spice;
Your courts are filled with sweet delight.
The daughters bow, the queens adore,
and nations praise forevermore.

The Bride appears, her gown of gold, —
a Splendor dressed, a sight to hold.
With joy she comes to take her place
beside the King in love’s embrace.

Let sons arise to bear Your Name, —
through all the Earth proclaim Your fame.
Forever, Lord, Your Praise will ring, —
the nations bless their Sovereign King.
