No. 2366, A Cry for Justice

A poem on Psalm 35.

Contend, O Lord, with those who Strive, โ€”
against the ones who would deprive.
Take up Your Shield, both great and small, โ€”
arise to Help and hear my call.

Draw spear and javelin ‘gainst my foe.
Say, “I’m your Savior, here to show.”
Let those who seek my life Retreat, โ€”
turned back in shame, their plans Defeat.

Like Chaff in wind, they will Flee,
Your Angel chasing tirelessly.
Their path is Dark, their way Confused,
for the traps they set are self-abused.

Without a cause they laid a Snare;
their Net will blind them unaware.
Then I shall sing with Joyful breath,
“God has Saved my soul from Death!”

How long, O Lord, will You delay?
Rescue my lifeโ€”bring Peace, I pray.
I’ll thank You in the public square
and praise Your Name for all to share.

Let not my foes, with cruel intent,
rejoice in harm they falsely meant.
They speak of peace, but they Deceive,
and plot to make the pure ones grieve.

Awake, O Lord, and take my side
with Justice for the wrongs applied.
Let joy be theirs who see me Stand
for Righteousness within Your hand.

Your praises shall fill my tongue all day,
proclaiming what Your Works convey.
For You are near to hear my plea,
and judge the world with Equity.
