No. 2361, The Song of the Upright (Poetry)

A poem on Psalm 33.

Rejoice, you Righteous, in the Lord, —
with Hope and song His Name accord!
A Melody of praise resounds
where Faith and steadfast love abound.

The Word of God is True and Right;
His works are Justice, clothed in Light.
He loves the ways of Righteousness;
the Earth is filled with His largess.

By Breath alone the heavens came;
He called the stars, and they took name.
The waters gathered at His Will;
the deep was filled and the waves stood still.

Let all the Earth revere His Might,
for when He Speaks, His plans take flight.
He thwarts the Schemes of those who stray,
but stands by those who seek His Way.

Blessèd are the ones whose God is near,
whose Trust is placed without fear.
From Heaven’s height, He looks below,
and sees each Heart—each deed we sow.

A king is saved Not by his might, —
a warrior’s strength cannot ignite.
A horse cannot the battle win,
but God delivers him frim sin.

God’s eyes are set on those who Fear, —
with Hope in Him, they persevere.
He Saves them in their hour of strife
and Breathes into their souls New Life.

Our Hope is in the Lord alone, —
our Shield, our Help, our Cornerstone.
Let steadfast love, O Lord, abound;
for in Your Name, our Joy is found.
